Went to see the Gwen Gillam display at the Qld Museum. If you love early 60's fashion you'll enjoy these beautiful gowns. Gwen Gillam was the leading dress designer in Queensland during the
1950s and 1960s. She was regarded as "the best" by her country and city
clientele, as her garments reflected European design and were initially
made from exclusive imported fabrics.
Very elegant and timeless fashion.
And while you are in Brissy, pop over to QPAC (Cremorne Theatre) to see the All Dressed Up: Costumes from Broadway to Hollywood display. It includes costumes from films based on stage shows, such as the film
version of Annie, costumes from original films that have been made into
stage shows, such as Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, and costumes
created for the stage. Costumes worn by Judy Garland, Sammy Davis Jnr.,
Bette Midler, Julie Andrews, Ray Bolger, Ethel Merman, Liza Minnelli,
Carol Channing, Nathan Lane, Peter Allen, Eddie Murphy and others are
featured in the exhibition.
Neither display is time consuming so it's easy to spend just the morning enjoying both displays.
